One agency in the Biden Administration has actively, albeit subtly, been turning to multiple groups funded by far-left billionaire George Soros in order to serve crucial roles in policy and enforcement.
According to Fox News, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has been pulling individuals from the same network of progressive advocacy groups for various positions, with these groups all being funded by Soros and a handful of other left-wing billionaires. One such group is Governing for Impact (GFI), which has been bankrolled by Soros’ notorious Open Society Foundation, and with which the administration has been working behind the scenes on key agenda items.
“Our grantees give voice to people outside of Washington, in Washington,” said an Open Society Foundations spokesman. “We’re proud of our work and our grantees’ work to protect the interests of people in the United States who are all too often excluded from the policymaking process.”
The FTC has come under fire in recent months for its heavy “revolving door” approach to hiring, often forgoing experienced staffers in favor of former employees from various nonprofit groups. The only Republican left on the commission, Christie Wilson, resigned earlier this year out of protest of the leadership of Chairwoman Lina Khan.
“Under her leadership, knowledgeable career staff have been scorned and sidelined,” Wilson claimed in her resignation letter in March. “Most notably, early in her tenure, a gag order was imposed on staff that prevented them from engaging in consumer and business education — a vote of no confidence in our staff and a disservice to those we serve.”
Another example is Sarah Miller, the former head of the American Economic Liberties Project (AELP), who was brought onto the FTC earlier this year as a “special adviser.” AELP has been funded by the likes of Soros, Pierre Omidyar, and the Ford Foundation.
The FTC has also hired staff from a nonprofit called the AI Now Institute, which allegedly aims to address the rise of artificial intelligence from an antitrust perspective. AI Now’s founder, Meredith Whittaker, was hired as a “senior adviser on artificial intelligence” in 2021. In 2022, another AI Now alumnus, Rashida Richardson, was brought into the FTC as an “attorney adviser.”
Such revelations only further prove the massive influence held by Soros and other far-left billionaires over the current administration. Soros announced his “retirement” earlier this year, with many of the direct leadership roles of his various organizations to be taken over by his son Alex.
